Professional Career:
Wolfgang Althaus started his career in 1982 at Siemens in Erlangen and Nürnberg. During his employment for Siemens he was operating as commissioning manager in Egypt, Turkey, Guatemala, Belgium, Indonesia, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In 1990 he changed to the large scale power plant Franken AG as process control engineer, safety specialist and later as production manager. From 2003 to 2008 he was director of the waste to energy plant Göppingen and from 2008 to 2010 plant manager and director of the substitute fuel power plant Knapsack. In November 2010 he assumed the leadership of the Power Plant Group South of the E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH and of the power plant Ingolstadt – this step enabled Wolfgang Althaus to move closer to his adopted home Erlangen.
Personal Interests:
Having Wolfgang Althaus’ numerous professional stations in regard, allows to perceive that travelling is one of his biggest passions, which leads him often and fondly to new countries, landscapes and cultures.
Being an enthusiastic photographer and filmmaker, he doesn’t miss a single opportunity to record his travel impressions for both family and friends. Besides discovering foreign countries, music plays an important part for the graduate engineer: He plays the guitar and feels particularly home in the world of wind instruments – his favourite ones are trumpet and tuba.
